- Pop n go playpen
- Baby powder
- UPF Sun hat with neck protection and drawstring
- Hello Bello mineral sunscreen
- Solar buddies sunscreen applicator
- Rufflebutts UPF swimsuit
Ahhh to sit on the beach and listen to the waves crash with a frozen beverage in hand…. But wait, we have tiny humans depending on us to keep them alive in the harrowing conditions of the beach. How do we stay sane and anxiety free when we bring a literal baby to the beach? After lugging our family of five along with another family of four to the beach recently – here were the real MVPs for the babies in the group. (There will be a separate post for toddlers and older kids as well!) Read on for our favorites:
Pop-up baby seat with tray: this little fella was light, portable, and perfect to set up on the sand for our littlest to both observe the activities and snack the day away. As an added bonus, we use this above and beyond beach trips – we take it to family’s houses, set it up on the back porch, put her in the garden etc. a nice docking station for a little one on the go!
Foldable bucket with beach shovel: we are a ‘less is more’ family, particularly when it comes to vacation packing. We loved that these buckets folded up. We filled the bucket with ocean water and parked it next to the pop up seat for baby to play with the water without having to venture into the ocean! Also works great to dunk little sandy hands into to wash off the sand.
Pop n go playpen: the easiest thing to set up. Takes five seconds to pop up. Has both ground stakes and sand stakes included for any adventure. Has a UPF sunshade to protect little skin. Is portable and lightweight. Works great to also contain littles when out doing yard or garden work!
Baby powder: the least glamorous unsung hero of sand removal. Helps get all the stubborn sand free from baby’s skin without irritation.
UPF baby hat with neck protection and drawstring: Let’s face it – no baby wants to wear a hat. The drawstring is a must have. The UPF saves that little scalp from sunburn and peeling. The neck cover is well… not the cutest but it is efficient, and we love efficiency here at NLM.
Hello bello mineral sunscreen: we love a mineral sunscreen but hate how sticky and pasty it can be to apply. We also hate the nerdy white appearance of products that don’t sink in. This applies like a dream, has a nice beach scent, and does not leave thick white residue.
Solar buddies sunscreen applicator: makes it super easy to just roll on lotion or cream sunscreen. Gentle on little skin and the older kids think it’s fun to use, so they pitch in to help with themselves and the littles su screen application! We love a way to enlist help from the older ones!
Ruffle butts UPF swimsuit: this is technically a bonus for little baby girls. Rash guards and swimsuits are either cute or effective but not usually both… this provides the protection, efficiency of taking on/off that we need, and is super cute!
All in all we had many lessons learned with this trip, but we felt solidly prepared for beach outings with a baby with the items above. We hope this is helpful for your travels and we hope it might provide you with at least a few small moments of relaxation knowing your little one is safe and protected at the beach!
